The State Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday alleged that over one lakh Pakistani and Bangladesh nationals, who were staying illegally in the state, were trying to enroll themselves as Indian citizens during the ongoing Census drive.
Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, the party official spokesperson, Mr N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, demanded that the government appoint a special officer to supervise the Census exercise and ensure that no foreigner was enlisted as Indian citizen, particularly in the old city of Hyderabad. During the Census, the government should take effective steps to weed out anti-nationals and illegal migrants staying in the state, Mr Prabhakar said.
The BJP leader further alleged that Hyderabad has become a hub of terrorists and center of illegal activities due to government's miserable failure. Though Vicar alias Vicaruddin, a terror suspect from the city, was missing for the last three years, the city police have failed to track him down, he said, adding that there was no coordination between the counter-intelligence personnel and Octopus, an anti-terrorist cell.
Mr Prabhakar also demanded that the government pay minimum support price for the paddy and render justice to the farmers. He alleged that the Food Corporation of India and the rice millers were not purchasing paddy at the minimum support price causing agony to the farmers. "It is very sad to say that as both were not honoring the government rules, the poor farmers were at the receiving end since the last two days. It is sad that the paddy, which flooded the markets since last two days was drenched due to unseasonal rain, he bemoaned.
